1954 Maytag Wringer Washer

This little beauty has been in our family at Action Maytag, Mattress and More for many years now:

It is an original 1954 Maytag Wringer Washwer Model E2L or Master. When it was released, this washer retailed for $119.22. With inflation, today's price would be $2683.65!

This baby could do it all! No one owned dryers at the time, so of course this washer is equipped with a wringer to squeegee your clothes when they were done getting washed so they could be hung out to dry on the clothes line.

Take a close look at this user directions sheet. The hinged lid is permanently hinged to the machine- no more losing that pesky lid! And guess what- it is a "convenient sorting table" built right in. Plus draining the machine is practically a no-brainer, just pull the hose off and let gravity do the work!

The E2L was the longest production of any Matyag wringer washers- the last one was made in 1982. No wonder they were so popular- aren't you enticed yourself by these original ads for the "post-war washer" that everyone had to have?

Come by our store and check out this little piece of history for yourself! It has a home at the front of our showroom, watching over all the younger generation washers.
